Final cut pro not letting me record voiceover!

I have final cut 10.4.8. Mac is running Catalina 10.15.3. I have the security settings manipulated to allow final cut to access the microphone. When I go to record voiceover the levels are showing, but then when I actually record it, nothing is there. A grey box appears post stopping the recording. Any ideas?

Give Final Cut Pro "Full Disk Access" in System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy
