Quarantined ~/Library/Mail directory?
Environment:
MacOS 10.15.3 (Catalina)
Apple Mail 13.0
SpamSieve 2.9.39
Backstory:
- I started out trying to figure out why my Mail folders weren't sorted alphabetically (not so much for me, but for my Mother who was complaining to me about it with her Mac).
- I found a couple of articles that suggested disabling and re-enabling accounts to fix the issue - that didn't seem to fix it.
- I found an article that indicated you needed to adjust a .plist file in ~/Library/Mail/ - and that's what's got me posting here...
~/Library/Mail:
(presented as a series of shell commands/results)
% /bin/ls -A ~/Library/Mail
ls: Mail: Operation not permitted
% /bin/ls -ld ~/Library/Mail
drwxr-xr-x@ 10 ghoti1 staff 320 Mar 18 11:27 /Users/userid/Library/Mail
% /bin/ls -ld@ ~/Library/Mail
drwxr-xr-x@ 10 ghoti1 staff 320 Mar 18 11:27 /Users/userid/Library/Mail
com.apple.quarantine -1
% xattr -c ~/Library/Mail
xattr: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '/Users/userid/Library/Mail'
% sudo xattr -c ~/Library/Mail
Password: [...]
xattr: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '/Users/userid/Library/Mail'
Help?:
- Why would my ~/Library/Mail folder be quarantined? (as far as I can tell, Mail is working fine)
- Why can't I clear the quarantine attribute on my ~/Library/Mail folder? (and yes, I had quit Mail before doing the above commands)
