AppleID purchase scam

Recently I received an email from an unknown user about a purchase.

My main concern is more so about the PDF file attached and it's contents.

The only "link" I clicked on while viewing the PDF receipt was a "Report Problem" tag, as the PDF was made to mimic an official Apple email receipt.

Though I was only taken to a "403 error" and no actual site. Nothing else was prompted nor occurred afterwards. But I am taking precautions and changing passwords while also running a scan on my computer.

Seeing as nothing alarming has happened, I need to know if there's something i'm missing, or need to do, otherwise i'm unsure if i'm safe.

About Email and Other Scams


Apple always addresses you by your name or the name they have on file for you.  The Email will be from apple.com or itunes.com. Email addresses can be spoofed. You can go to Mail > View > Message > Show all Headers to see more. Apple Emails will never contain an attachment. Apple will never request personal information such as Social Security numbers.


An exception to the above is when you order something from the Apple Store. The receipt will be addressed to Dear Apple Customer.
