If I import email from Gmail into Mail using Google Takeout, then delete the emails from Gmail, can I still see them in Mail?

Hello, everyone,

Due to Google's increasingly invasive practices, I wish to create an archive of my Gmail messages on my MacBook pro, and then delete those messages from my Gmail account. I still want to be able to open and read them on my Mac after doing so.

I have downloaded the emails to my Mac using Google Takeout.

Will I still be able to open and view those emails in the Mail program after they are deleted from my Gmail, or will they then be deleted from the Mail program, as well?

I ask because my Mail program is connected to the Gmail account, so deleting emails from Gmail also deletes them from Mail. Perhaps I should disconnect the Gmail account from Mail?

My OS is Sierra 10.12.6 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro

My Mail version is Version 10.3 (3273)

Thanks to all in advance, and here's wishing everyone good health during the current crisis and beyond.

I found the solution on my own; it was quite easy. I wish I could delete this question, it's embarrassing for its lack of clarity and for the fact that all I had to do was disconnect the gmail account from the Mail program. Done & done (I'll be the judge of whether my most personal information should be free to the public, Google). ; )

Feeed! Feeed the Gooogazonnnn!!!

Rrrarrr!
