How do I open old Apple Works documents/files (.cwk) with macOS Catalina 10.15.4 Pages?
iMac 27", macOS 10.15
The ability to open AppleWorks v6 documents ended with Pages '09 v4.3, Numbers '09 v2.3, and Keynote '09 v5.3. The free, 64-bit LibreOffice Suite can open ClarisWorks v5, and AppleWorks v6 documents, whether originated on Windows or Mac platforms. None of these solutions are a read/write scenario, but rather a read, and then you save to more modern formats (e.g Word .docx, etc.).
You will have to perform a Finder Get Info on one of these .cwk documents, and change the default opening application to LibreOffice.
Also, in the case of the preceding applications, the more individual AppleWorks application data integrated into the .cwk document, the less likely that the document can be opened with its original appearance intact. AppleWorks databases will be opened in LibreOffice Calc as spreadsheet data.
An ideal solution would be an old Mac still running OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and AppleWorks 6.2.9, which would offer some hope of export to Microsoft formats from the application that created the AppleWorks documents.

IF it is possible, you right click on the file name to open a small menu, then choose Pages 8.x.x from the menu.
If that is not successful, I suggest downloading LibreOffice, and attempt opening the file with that application.
