fcpx - delete optimized media

Before I move a FCPX library off working drive to archival storage, I want to reduce the file size as much as possible without losing any of the editing work in the events/projects. But anything that can be redone, such as rendering, I dont mind loosing because I can serenader if I need the projects (tell me if that is wrong).

So, with Library selected on the left side bar, I delete FILE/DELETE GENERATED LIBRAY FILES....then from popup window, select everything.

But when I look at the Library properties , there is still a large amount of optimized media and proxy showing.

Q: is this to be expected and is there anything else I should/could do before archive?

SOLUTION - after all the below and other trys, I made a new Library, copied the project over. Consolidated. Deleted old library. Fast, easy, works.

There should not be that used space, of course.

First quit FCP X.

Select the library in the Finder and check how big it is.

After starting FCP X again, check if it still shows that used space for proxy and optimized media.

Quit FCP X and delete them using the Finder.

Generated files doesn’t include analysis files. You might want to check that if you’re doing a lot of stabilization or other analysis.

It looks like it's mirroring, which may be complicating the issue. I take it from your earlier response that you're using managed media. For your purposes and the number of libraries you have external media might be more useful. Then you can consolidate into the library for archiving. It makes media more manageable on this type of system.

Are you saying that you did the Delete Generated Library Files... but these remain?

Did you quit and restart Final Cut Pro after deleting?

Closed FCP.

File in finder 62Gb.

Open FCP - no change ........still big numbers shown in my snip for optimized and proxy.

I've closed the library and opened it, etc.

Looking for ideas.

What OS and FCP versions? Does the application have Full Disk Access in Privacy System Preferences?

...but discovering other projects, the steps work well. For instance just reduced a 93Gb to 4Gb !

But I still have several Libraries that it does NOT work on.

Looking for ideas.

Mojave 10.14.6 (still wrapping up some Aperture things so holding on Catalina)
FCPX 10.4.8
just added FCP to full disk access in pref.

No change following steps for this project MINIFISH

I've gone through about 20 older Libraries and the procedure works. But I have a few Libraries that it does not, and they are still taking up ~300 gb of space. Looking for ideas. thanks

yes they remain. Open, closed FCP. reboots. Etc. Lots of trys......and these remain.

Are you saying, "SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS", then drill in, find, and delete? I'd rather not use this method. Plus, it still looks like Optimized media as in my snip.
