SIM Tray

I have an iPad Mini that has a SIM card slot, but it seems there is no hole to eject it, just a black dot......looks as though it has been filled with something very smoothly flush to the iPad’s surface....cannot even feel a hole with my fingertip and the removal tool skids right off of it, scratching the surface. I have two other models (A1490) that are identical and they both allow the SIM removal tool to be inserted and the tray removed. It’s odd to have a SIM tray with no way of opening it and searched the internet but the majority of results consisted of instructions on how to remove the tray, with and without the SIM remover tool, but nothing about a tray with no hole....that’s a new one for me!

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Based on this photo, there really is a sim tray and why you can't get it to open is impossible for us to diagnose from a photo. Why do you want to remove the sim tray? If you simply can't get it to open, since Apple Stores are closed, go to either a Best Buy store or the cellular provider you use and see if they can get the tray to open.
