I cannot see any sign of a simcard tray or releasing-tool hole anywhere round the edges of my iphone 8. Every video and written instruction I have seen says it is on the right hand side, just below the power button - I can see no sign of it anywhere on either side of the device. Where else should I look? Help!!

However, I am looking at my device as I type this response - I confirm that the only feature on the right hand side of the phone (face up) is the power button. There is no hole for the sim-card release tool and no sign/outline of a sim-card tray. I also confirm that my original description of the device is correct. I have also (again) checked "settings" and confirm it states the device is an iphone 8.

The phone was given to me completete - in a wallet!! Aaaahh!!! Duhhh!!
That would explain it.
