I've just purchased a macbook pro. For some reason when I enable voice control the fan runs at high speed most of the time. This doesn't happen when I just use dictation. Has anyone encountered this problem?

If certain apps use a large amount of energy, it wouldn't be uncommon for the fans to run during those actions. If you'd like, I suggest taking a look at the processes that are running on your Mac when the fan noise begins. This might help isolate the issue to a particular app. Here's how:

From there, the SMC is responsible for the fans and other thermal-management features. If you haven't yet, I recommend giving that step a try.

Thank you for your response. I don't necessarily want to try resetting the SMC because the laptop runs hotter, even when I'm not using the voice control but have it engaged. Is it possible that it is reading all of my documents for vocabulary and having to communicate that back to Apple?
