13.4 IS DRAINING MY BATTERY!

I updated my 6 plus and 8 plus to IOS 13.4 4 days ago. Now the batteries are draining every 2 hrs or so. I even have my doubts that this is real actual drainage, because when I plug it in to charge it charges ‘20 every 1-10 mins’. None of this is normal. My usage has not changed. I have noticed also that my peak battery max capacity on the 8 plus was 91% before the update. Now it is 86%. I want a fix for this. Help.

Note: none of the topics from the menu really apply to a busted IOS software update. So I am choosing hardware. This is not a hardware issue!

Hello APPLE_HELP_TRIEDTHAT,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you're experiencing short battery life, lower maximum battery capacity, unexpected charging behavior with both your iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus after updating to iOS 13.4. I know how important it is that your battery last as long as possible, and I would be happy to help.

It can be normal to experience some changes in battery life immediately after an update as apps reindex and reanalyze data. This will usually return to normal within 24 to 48 hours. Given that you've been experiencing the issues for 4 days, I'd like to take ask a few more questions to help us better determine what steps to take next:

  1. Is Optimized Battery Charging enabled on either iPhone? If so, which iPhone or both? About Optimized Battery Charging on your iPhone
  2. Is the battery typically below or above 80% when it charges faster than expected? Show the battery percentage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  3. What is the maximum battery capacity on your iPhone 6 Plus?
  4. When you take a look at battery usage on both devices, which apps or features are contributing to the most battery usage? What does the background activity look like? About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

The symptoms that you're describing can often be hardware related in nature that happened to coincide with the iOS update. For the iPhone 8 Plus especially, it is nearing the 80% maximum battery threshold where battery replacement is typically recommended. You can read more about how your battery can cause changes in performance as it chemically ages here:

Take care.

Same issue here on my iPhone X. Right after the 13.4 update I experienced a dramatic increase in battery drain. I know it will refresh/reindex after large updates so I patiently gave it a few days, but the drainage has remained steady and I'm needing to charge throughout the day when I've never had to before. Battery settings indicate 91% max capacity and supporting Peak Perf Capability with Optimized battery charging on. I also updated to 13.4.1 when it relased, but it does not seem to have had a noticeable impact. Please advise...
