Hello APPLE_HELP_TRIEDTHAT,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you're experiencing short battery life, lower maximum battery capacity, unexpected charging behavior with both your iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus after updating to iOS 13.4. I know how important it is that your battery last as long as possible, and I would be happy to help.
It can be normal to experience some changes in battery life immediately after an update as apps reindex and reanalyze data. This will usually return to normal within 24 to 48 hours. Given that you've been experiencing the issues for 4 days, I'd like to take ask a few more questions to help us better determine what steps to take next:
- Is Optimized Battery Charging enabled on either iPhone? If so, which iPhone or both? About Optimized Battery Charging on your iPhone
- Is the battery typically below or above 80% when it charges faster than expected? Show the battery percentage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- What is the maximum battery capacity on your iPhone 6 Plus?
- When you take a look at battery usage on both devices, which apps or features are contributing to the most battery usage? What does the background activity look like? About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
The symptoms that you're describing can often be hardware related in nature that happened to coincide with the iOS update. For the iPhone 8 Plus especially, it is nearing the 80% maximum battery threshold where battery replacement is typically recommended.
