Brand New MacBook Pro 16" restarts when lid is closed.

So i just bought this MacBook Pro Thursday 3/26/2020 from BestBuy and literally sense i got it, if i plug it in to charge and just shut the lid without shutting it down and leave it for an extended period of time, every time i get back to it, it has restarted with errors. I do not know why or what's going on but i keep looking at the crash report details once the pop up comes up that it has restarted with errors and each error log always has something to do with the AMD graphics card. Is this something that seems to be common or no?

I'm having the exact same issue too. I have a MPB 16" too, it also crashes for me after closing the lid, and I also get the same messages in the error report about graphics. It's been happening to me at least twice a day for the past several days.

This issues only seems to have started affecting this model after upgrading to the latest release of MacOS 10.15.4 which was released on March 24.

My guess would be as you said, this OS update has a crashing bug for this particular model when sleeping/waking, rather than there being any specific hardware fault in your machine.

I swapped it out today for another one, same model, and here we are about 4 hours sense I've had the new one and this one just did the same thing. Didn't even have to close the lid. Its plugged in sitting next to me while I'm on my home iMac and I went back to the MacBook and it had the apple logo and I had to sign back in and the message came up that it restarted due to errors.
