Icloud backups.

So basically my icloud storage is running out. I have a ipad and an iphone. I go to my backups and see that my ipad takes up 1.4 gigs of my icloud storage. I want to delete that backup to free some space but i’m wary. I wonder if deleting that backup will remove my data from my ipad. I use my ipad frequently and a few years back, I remember deleting a backup from an old ipad of mine. It deleted all of my games data and forced me to restart.

I have read other posts about this issue but they’re all vague and quite rude about “sharing” one another’s apple id.

Deleting an iCloud Backup does not delete any data on the device itself. The following may also help: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

Note that if you delete synced data such as iCloud Photos that is different than deleting an iCloud Backup and that will result in the data being deleted from devices as well as from iCloud.
