iPad - Restoration Issues

I reset my iPad a while ago & ever since it has had the icon to plug into my laptop with the link support.apple.com/ipad/restore along the top - I have followed all the instructions on Apple Support and my laptop comes up with a message saying that restoration could not be completed. Help, lockdown madness is getting to me.
