How do I reset a device to sync again after accidentally selecting forget this device?

My iPad and my SkullCandy’s Ink’d Active wireless headphones will not reconnect all of the way. I’ve been able to reset my wireless headphones by holding both the center button and the down volume button together for atleast 8 seconds until a solid blue light would come on and remain on until I removed my fingers. Next I held the center button and the up volume button until I’d see flashing a red and green light which means that it is now in the paring mode. After long while it will show up on my iPad ’under other devices’ but it will NEVER finally connect all the way. Always end with a message saying ‘pairing unsuccessful.’ Help please!!!

iPad, iOS 12

There are some basic troubleshooting steps in here that you can try.

If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I would also suggest a forced restart of your iPad.

  • iPad models with Face ID: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
  • iPad with Home button, iPhone 6s or earlier, and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons until you see the Apple logo.

If you still can’t get it to pair, you should contact the headphone manufacturer for help.

So you did contact the manufacturer or look for help on their website? If you didn’t, try that first.

Before you restore to factory settings,

  1. Do you have another device that you could try pairing? If so, try that.
  2. Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. You won’t lose any data, but ALL settings will have to be re-enter and that includes WiFi network passwords again. You know that from resetting network settings.

If you still can’t pair and you want to try restoring to factory settings, backup first so that you can restore the backup after restoring to factory settings.
