segmentation fault 11

Just started to get several apps crashing on start-up with the error at the bottom of the page. Most annoyingly this includes MS Office (v 16.16.20). All apps work on another user account and in safe mode, but I'm loathed to transfer everything over to a new account if this can be fixed and also low on disk space. I'm running OS X Mohave 10.14.6 on iMac 27inch, Late 2012 with 24GB RAM.

Have tried resetting NVRAM, re-installing MS Office, scanning with Malware Bytes, running various utilities on 'Clean My Mac', but the problem remains.

Apple support unable to help due to age of computer and just suggested setting up new user account and migrating everything over.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Googling this issue seems to only bring up very technical articles related to specific programming/debugging issues which is above my level of experience.

Thank you

John

I understand the problem preceded its installation but "CleanMyMac" still needs to go before you can even begin to troubleshoot what's wrong. The worst case scenario requires completely erasing and reconfiguring the Mac affected by it.

I also understand you didn't do much with it, but still. That's how bad it can be. Whatever problem you may have had to begin with, it can only make things worse.

It appears that you may have installed some aftermarket RAM. If that's the case try removing those modules for testing purposes. The Mac will work fine without them. If the segmentation faults persist try swapping them with the remaining RAM, and repeat the test.

If you've been running Clean My Mac, you've likely already "cleaned" essential parts of the OS and will need to reinstall.

Crash reports like those are only useful to the developer. There is nothing in them useful unless you actually wrote or understand the underlying code.

You could run EtreCheck and post the output, here in the Additional Text area (document icon). Use Share Report > Copy Report then paste into Additional Text.

That may reveal something that is interfering with the OS, but nothing is guaranteed.
