bluetooth 2020 macbook air

Just got a brand new 2020 Macbook Air. Very excited!

Less exciting is that upon trying to pair my Mpow bluetooth headphones with my new laptop I get numerous "connected" "disconnected" "connected" "disconnected" "connected" "disconnected" loops as I repeatedly retry. Eventually, with much effort and aggravation, it stays connected.

Before people tag Mpow for this, these are headphones I've not had any problems with otherwise having using them for some time with my iPhone 7. Absolutely, definitely the laptop at fault here.

What gives?

I had the same problem but managed to solve it by deleting the Bluetooth preferences plist file and restarting the MacBook Air.

Open a Finder window

Click "Go" in the Menu bar

Click "Go to Folder" in the dropdown, and type "/Library/Preferences"

Carefully locate com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and delete it. (If you want to be cautious, you can rename or backup this file elsewhere instead)

Restart the computer and pair your Bluetooth devices again.

It worked for me.

Hi guys! I spent countless times trying to connect my blue tooth ear buds to my macbook air 2020 (Os Catalina 10.15.5 btw) and finally, fluke, I got it. Here's what I did:

  1. Apple icon go to system preferences and select bluetooth
  2. Under the bluetooth page, click show bluetooth in menu bar
  3. Head to the top right hand corner of your mac and you should see the bluetooth icon appear
  4. Pair your device from there under devices, hover over the name of your item and you should see connect (in my case it was the earbuds)

Well I did that and it worked! Life felt suddenly much much better.

I hope it works for all of you too.

All the best! Images below for reference

Best regards,

Viv :)!

Update:

When I connect my bluetooth earpieces to my computer, one side of my speakers on mac book air 2020 stops working, if I reset it by going to "activity monitor" under Applications (find coreaudiod and double click and quit the process) and then restart my computer, speakers go back to normal but bluetooth ear pieces start to have issues pairing again. So for me, I have to keep deleting coreaudiod in the activity monitor and restarting the computer depending on whether I want to use the speakers or the bluetooth earpieces. I've also tried resetting the SMC: https://support.apple.com/en-sg/HT201295 and PRAM:https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063. Hope this helps some of you.
