How can I tell an email is legitimate about my apple account?

Apple does not mail you about your account. They email receipts for purchases, and they send emails if you sign into iCloud using a web browser. If there is a problem with your account, they do not email you.
When they do email you, they use your name and they don’t use phrases like “dear customer”.
