usb mic

Hey guys! I have a PreSonus usb mic that my Mac won't recognize in garage band, or in settings. I use the USB adapter because my Mac doesn't have any usb inputs, the mic still turns on and works but the computer won't recognize it. I plugged the mic into my moms older Mac and it recognizes it and I am able to record in garage band, but how do I get the mic to work with my Mac?

Why is my Snowball Mic not being detected in sound system preferences on my Mac? I have used this mic before on my mac to do voiceovers on imovie, last time I used it was probably a month ago, and now that I want to record again it won't detect it on imovie, I checked all of my preferences and everything is as it should be to allow mic usage but the mic does not appear on output sound preferences. Connected external microphone isn't showing listed on sound Input on MacBook Air I have an MacBook Air and I'm using GarageBand. So I need to record some voice with my external microphone. I connected it using 3.5 mm aux audio cable. When I go into system preferences - Input - the device isn't listed in Input, but in Output it listed. Any ideas? If it make sense my external microphone is Shure 8700.

What mac do you have that does not have a USB port? What version of Garageband are you running?
