Core Dumps

How do I disable the core dump? I delete the cores and they just keep coming back which, in turns, takes up way too much storage on my hard drive. I tried searching for the application that's creating them via the terminal but it's a dead end.

I'm running Mojave 10.14.6 on the Mac Pro trash can.

Open Terminal in Applications>Utilities, copy & paste these one at a time in the terminal window & press return...

rm -f cores/*

sudo sysctl -w kern.coredump=0

(Sudo asks for admin Password but will not echo as you type, just type your password carefully & press enter.

Then open /etc/sysctl.conf in say BBEdit & search for... # Disable coredumps, make sure the following line is...

kern.coredump=0

If /etc/sysctl.conf doesn't exist then save the file there as sysctl.conf with that single line in it... kern.coredump=0
