MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 Crashes

My MacBook started crashing randomly after the last update. The screensaver and power saving is off, and the reboots happen if applications are open, or they are closed and it is just sitting idle.

I have 2 Mac's both 2015's. The only way I found to solve the crash is to install Catalina via a bootable USB. Once I restored from Time Machine the crashes came back. One of them doesn't have Norton, the other does, but both would crash out of the blue. It was pain, but I copied all my files off, installed Catalina from scratch, reinstalled my apps, copied my documents back over and no crashes, not even the Norton installed one crashes. I have a feeling the upgrade has issues, not sure if they are security related, or files not updating, but hopefully they will fix it on the next round.

My mac book pro has been a constant nightmare for the last 3 years. I had some hope with the latest upgrade to Catalina. This constant crash thing is ridiculous. I have tried everything, I have spent hours on the phone with apple support. Their solution is usually to upgrade to the newest operating system. Well guess what with each upgrade brings more incompatibility with Apps. I've gone to forums, chats the developers and tried those tricks just to get software to run. All to no avail. The macbook pro works great and fast with basic things like email and internet searching , office 365 and google , but using high end graphic programs like Adobe products and video editing software, I have never been able to keep the system stable long enough to complete a project. I feel I have been dooped. This was my first Apple and I splurged believing I was getting a computer that could handle my video projects. I am so disappointed that it can't. I spent so much money on the macBook pro and got a computer that might be faster, but does nothing more than my low end $600 computer.

Exact same issue with my 16" MacBook Pro. I never turn off my computers, and every morning my MacBook needs to be turned on. This has happened probably 6 times now, never any unexpected reboots before the 10.15.4 update. I could have all my software running or none at all, it doesnt seem to matter.

Odd that it stays turned off, this is the first I've seem a Mac not reboot on it's own. Typically when it has an issue the command is to reboot, not to just shut down..

Same here. Have a new MBP 16" Catalina 10.15.4 and it is happening every night. Just came back to work after leaving for an hour and it was also off. I send the report to Mac every single time. I am pretty annoyed that this is clearly a serious issue and not being addressed.

No I am not running Norton or any other "cleaning" software. I have been using this computer for about 3 months now. I am not at all pleased with the suggestions that I just reinstall everything-seriously, do people actually think this is a viable solution?

I will start the workaround suggested with stopping the hard drive to sleep option. I am not at all thrilled about the complete shutdown each night-honestly this is one of the things I like about Macs is the ability to resume work easily every morning without having to completely restart.

I notice that in the report it often has the suspected bundle being some version of com.apple.iokit.IPPCIFamily

I saved the entire report but not posting here. Apple needs to fix this.

Will this problem be resolved if you install a fresh os???

I have a backup from about a month back. I will loose data if I revert back to that date. But then it is better then the frequent system crashes.

I need to decide if insallling the fresh 10.15.4 will also crash if yes then it makes no sense to do that and simply better to revert to the old backup.

Week of July 5 I've had to shut down MAC manually at least twice daily as nothing will function through Firefox. I cannot shut down computer through regular means, must disconnect power and let rest for approx. 5 minutes. Today after doing same, I cannot get any function with Firefox. I don't believe I ever got a Catalina 10.5.5 update - cannot determine if I received or not. Frustrating.
