Re; force quitting mail app resets the filtered setting

Anybody force quit the email app and find that the filtered settings are done away with? I have my email filtered by unread messages. After force quitting the app, the setting is gone and i get a mix of old and unread messages. Not a big deal, or real emergency, but it would be nice to know if this is standard, or do i need to adjust something. Thanks in advance for any help.

Apps remain suspended, but with their current status saved in RAM (or spooled to storage if RAM is needed). Apps never close on their own. When you shut down the phone each app is given an opportunity to save its current state, that’s why a shutdown can take a minute or two. But when you force close an app it is not given a chance to save its state. Likewise if you do a forced restart of the iPhone, which is why you should never do that either, unless the phone is frozen or unresponsive.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, NativeIrish!

I understand you're noticing that your email settings are not staying after closing out the Mail app and reopening it. I'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

However, if that doesn't help, can you tell us a bit more about what you're expecting to see once you re-open the app?

Have a great day!
