DVD image file invalid checksum

I haven’t burned a DVD for years but I needed one for some friends. I created the image file on disc but when I came to burn it to DVD it immediately reported an invalid checksum error without even trying to access the burner.

I am on the latest Catalina and FCPX versions and thought maybe it was something to do with lack of 32 bit support so I transferred the IMG file to an old Windows 7 computer and managed to burn the disc there.

This was pretty much a one-off so I’m unlikely to need to do it much in the future. I was just wondering if there is some “trick” I would’ve needed to burn the file on my iMac (2017 model)?

Thanks Luis. I did try to look for DVD player but I don't seem to have it on my iMac.

DVD Player is there, but not in the Applications folder.

The easiest way to open it is with Spotlight. Press command-space and start typing DVD Pl

Can you post a screenshot of the Share window showing the Settings pane, as you used it to make the DVD?

Did you choose "File" or "Folder"?

I always did it with "File", which produces a disk image file (extension ".img"). Is that what you brought to your pc to burn?

Did you have to change the extension to ".iso" on the pc to have it recognized?

Thanks. I did not expect the .img extension to be recognized on the pc. Interesting.

So apparently, the recording turned out fine. I wonder if there is a problem with the DVD drive on the mac.

Did you try mounting the image on the mac and watching it in DVD Player?

If that worked ok, I would expect the problem to be with the drive.

If that were to cause an error, then there might be indeed an error in the image checksum, but probably the pc did not check for that.
