MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) input timing problem

Hi,

I've just got a new MacBook Pro 2019 16-inch,

and connected it via usb-c to a new Dell p2720dc display.

The external monitor works great while the macbook lid is open, but the moment I close it in order to use it in the closed "clamshell mode", the external monitor stop showing the picture with the following error:

Does anyone have any idea what's going wrong? (The macbook is getting power, the external keyboard and mouse connected to the monitor gets power too).

Thanks.

MacBook Pro 16", macOS 10.15

Hi eden174,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. Using your Mac with an external display is a great idea, and I see you've been running into some issues with yours. I have a few suggestions that might help.

To start, try clicking Apple menu () > System Preferences > Displays. Then click Scaled and see if you're able to set the resolution mentioned in the photo you posted. Then, click Gather Windows in the lower right and test to see if this has helped. If that doesn't work, you may want to check your monitor documentation to see if there are other resolutions you could try.

This resource has a few other suggestions that might be helpful as well: Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac

Take care.
