Linking iMessage on Mac

Hi

I am trying to log into my iMessage account on my Mac and it says that my I can’t because my Apple ID and iCloud are different. I don’t know how to fix this or what to change.

Changed my Apple id email address, now I cannot sign into iMessage. I changed my primary email account and I don't think I enabled iMessage when I added it. Now I cannot sign into iMessage on my Macbook. Going back to iPhone soon, so how to I correct this?

Why does it say that my iMessage and my Apple ID have different accounts it says my iMessage and Apple ID have different accounts? I have an alias I didn't create and it seems to be connected to my icloud with a password I didn't create either I thought my Apple ID was the same as icloud

You can either use the same ID you do for iCloud or you can turn iCloud Messages syncing off.
