I'm perplexed. Moved Mac Pro Server home from office due to COVID. External drive used to ** 2.11TB of data worked fine on incremental backups at the office. But at my home office, with same ext drive, Time Machine is starting a completely new **. How can I fix this? I'd like not to start over when only about 10 GB of data has changed. Can I delete the ** folder it started today and try to "Back Up Now"?

This occasionally happens to me. If the connection between your Macintosh and the destination drive ever gets severed then if Time Machine attempts to perform a backup then Time Machine will be informed that the backup is corrupt and needs to be completely recreated.

Can you explain why it may have started over?
Thoughts on what can be done to prevent this in the future—it takes quite a bit of time to back up 2TB on this machine.

Also, if this needs to start from scratch, I guess I need to delete all of the previous backups. Should I simply re-format the drive?
