MacBook battery issue.
Story and context:
Over a year ago, my 2017 12-inch MacBook was overloaded and force shut-down. The problem is I force turned it on, which led to this issue. I was surprised that I could force turn it on, and there was not a fail-safe to prevent me from doing so immediately after a force shut-down.
The immediate effect was a "service battery" warning in MacOS, and inconsistency in waking up from sleep in Windows. For the most part however, it continued to work fine.
A month or two ago, my MacBook started to only charge a certain way. I tried a new third-party cable and it worked perfectly for a week, but then also only charged a certain way. It turns out that anything I plug in into the computer becomes damaged -- or the wiring anyway. Apple Earpods that I plugged in into the MacBook also do not work consistently anymore, on any device.
This damage not only applies to external accessories but also to internal parts. Whenever I connect any Bluetooth earbuds to the MacBook, the signal is inconsistent and cuts even at close range. There is permanent damage.
Now it appears I may not be able to use the MacBook without plugging it in.
My problem seems simple and easy-to-replicate.
I was reluctant to service the MacBook because it will certainly require more than just a battery replacement.
I would like to be able to understand what is going on. Apple support in-store is not helpful because they give generic answers, lack first-hand experience, and only tell me what I already know.
