Compatible USBC dock for the MacBook 16”

Hi There

I have finally upgraded to a MacBook Pro 16” and loving it!

I’m now looking for a compatible USB C dock. I was recommended to buy the Satechi USB-C Multi-Port Adapter 4K with Ethernet V2 (Space Grey). The dock looks great for my needs, however, I haven’t been able to find out if it is compatible with the new MBP 16”.

Any recommendations/advice before purchasing if welcomed!

Thanks

Lisa

I bought OWCTCDK5P2SG, and it seems to work. But some observations:

  • It does not support ethernet/gigabit, but I did not need it. IT is a smaller "travel" hub.
  • It can accept 100W of wall power to pass through to MBP, but it will vampire off 8 W for its own operation. Check each hub for how much power it will pass through and how much the hub will eat itself
  • Connecting other "multi devices" (like a secondary multi USB hub) to the primary hub may require AC power to the secondary hub ... the primary hub can only feed-out so much.

Select a hub with the ports you need. Select one that either passes through enough "net power" (wall - hubvampire) to charge the MBP OR just let a dedicated AC cord charge the MBP and the hub will pull out what it wants from the MBP. Prepare to have secondary hubs power themselves so the primary hub can do its work.
