Passcodes

So I forgot my passcode to my iPhone but I am still able to access it with my finger print. So I went the process of turning on the find my iPhone and backing my phone up to my iCloud. I then continued to log into my iCloud from my lab top and erase my iPhone so that I could restart my phone and reset my passcode which I was able to do and did but now when I sign into my iCloud with my new passcode it still asks for my old iCloud passcode to finish restoring my phone which I don’t remember. What do I do?

iPhone 7, iOS 13

Hello Roblbc,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that iCloud is requesting a password of some guid to finish restoring the iPhone. I'll do what I can to help.

Depending on which passcode or password is being requested is how you want to proceed:

  • This could mean the Security Code used with iCloud Keychain: Set up iCloud Keychain on iPhone
  • An Apple ID password is used to sign in to iCloud. This would be the same one you use to sign in to other Apple ID services, like the App Store. If that's the case, you would need to reset it a different way than you did the passcode. This link should help: If you forgot your Apple ID password
  • This might be the Screen Time passcode which would be separate from the normal passcode. If that's the case and the iPhone was set to a previous version of iOS, it might need to be set up as new. Otherwise, you might be able to skip that step and complete these: If you forgot your Screen Time passcode

Kind regards.
