Unable to copy or paste file names in the "Save As" dialogue in any program

Hey everyone. Not sure when exactly this started, but it might've been since the very latest OS update. Basically, if I press Save As in any app, and then click around the dialogue that comes up I get the Mac error/denied "Donk" sound. Additionally, I'm unable to copy or paste text into the File Name field.

This is making exporting a large number of files and re-using names really difficult. It's not just in one app. Have tested in my music software and also in the Text Editor that comes with Catalina. Any ideas what's going on? Thank you!

I have no idea what might cause it.

You could run EtreCheck to figure out what system mods you have running. That may give a hint at what might be related.

It is free to run a report and post the output here.

You can do that with the Share Report > Copy Report > Paste into Additional Text area, here (document icon).

Hmm. Interesting. Nope - I downloaded the demo for Logic Pro X. I think that's the last thing I installed. Let me check through and just make sure I don't have any other software running.

Do you know where I'd start to look for a solution here? It's as if the Save As dialogue is kinda...semi-locked. Anywhere I click around it's "Donking" at me. I've seen a couple of other people online with the same issue (some as "early" as late last year, presumably during beta).

The only things I have running are Fluor (for overriding FN keys in software that needs them) and...yeah I think that's it.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion - I managed to get on to a live chat rep for Apple last night. Their first suggestion was to enable safe mode to bypass all non-system processes. I just tried it and same issue. The screen flashes white when I click around the save box (which I guess it's doing in place of an audible error sound). I had to come off the support chat but I'm about to reconnect and pick up with my case number so, let's see what happens.
