Call Log - history

I am looking for a call I made a week ago. The contact is not saved in my phone. My log only goes back so far which I might understand for a 1987 Brick phone. Samsung and Android have had this simple feature for 15+ years. How do I find this from my Apple without being required to log in separately to my provider?

Short answer - You cannot. If it is not in your Recent Call History then the next option is to get that information from your carrier's website (Your account).

Well, you're right. iOS did store entire call log before iOS 11, but then started to clean it for some reason. Still keeps around 200-300 calls though. Check the history with iMazing, it will show everything saved in that log. Browsing data is free so nothing to lose.

Idk why it shows just last 100 entries on the device... Btw, it should recover older calls from the history if you delete some from the visible part, but haven't checked that for years.

Yes, I guess you can do that. I just use the app provided by my carrier that lists all of my calls going back 18 months. With more detail than the iPhone provides.

Can't browse data that is on my phone (and it's accessible without any jailbreak), can't sync music back to iTunes (or even use music sync without wiping library on the phone) after HDD crash, can't make multiple backups for iOS (guys, you already created Time Machine, come on!!!)... Yes, it's paid. Yes, I would switch to Apple solutions as soon as they will have the features I need. But don't think this will happen soon...

Yes, Lawrence is correct. Recents stores the last 100 calls.

You can also believe that submitting feedback is pointless. However, there have been things in the past that have obviously been changed as a result of overwhelming customer feedback. Apple reads all the feedback. That doesn't mean that the answer to every request made in Feedback is "yes". They do not read here for feedback so, posting your complaints here, while possibly cathartic, accomplishes nothing in getting Apple's attention.

Wow. So amazing Apple, as advanced as they really are, lacks in so many features compared to Android. Having been an Android user for many years, Apple for over a year, I can honestly say that Android truly is superior in functions, features and user experience of such. Apple however in my opinion, is more consistent in reliability which is critical to me. Just a shame that they don't seem to care about the value of quality features they lack in which I could go on and on about. The list is long.

The response above (Lawrence) "...Samsung is what you should get." This is a typical, easy, lack of knowledge response from an Apple user who does NOT know or understand the differences. There are so many simple programming features which would make for a much better experience for Apple users.

Hopefully one day Apple will care, listen and make the simple changes which have been around for so many years.

But don't you think that Lawrence is right when he stated that. "If you feel a Samsung better meets your needs then that is what you should get."? It is accommodating your likes and merely states exactly how it is typed for your benefit.

I believe that your input will be valuable through a direct feedback to Apple vs accusing us of lack of knowledge. Accusing us is not going to do any good for anyone. Thanks.

I posted this question today as I heard from someone Apple had recent updates but wasn't sure of what it consisted of.

No, I don't believe Lawrence is right with that statement as I was seeking an answer, not an opinion telling me I should get a Samsung. I also say this not as an intentional disrespectful response, but as a frustrated response on my part to those who so commonly respond this way. Anytime I am able to show a loyal, long-term Apple user many concerns, side-by-side with Android, they quickly switch from the attitude of your crazy, to "Oh, wow. I get it now. That would be awesome if Apple did that!" I understand Apple is at fault for the lack of technology, not the end users, and especially the end users on these platforms trying to help others. So for those of you with the prompt responses, thank you! This is helpful!

Now as for your suggestion of giving feedback to Apple, I unfortunately have no faith in "Apple Feedback." I say this based on my personal experience as well as others who have shared their experiences. These concerns I mention are just a few I have given feedback directly to Apple, on more than one occasion, for over 3 years now. I have even provided screen shots and detailed explanations. I personally know several others who have done the same in hopes of a change with the last 3 iPhone models. I myself and the few others I know are of course not the only ones expressing these changes. Result - nothing. The teams and decision makers at Apple of course are aware of what other products can do. Apple simply chooses not to care. This is the reason for my frustrated comment regarding my hope that someday Apple will actually care, listen and do something. Oh well. Nothing we can do. Cheers all. 🤙

Two things in iOS 13.4 were widely requested since 13.0 came out:

  • Add back the icon to save email to folders when viewing email in the mail app (it had been moved from there to a list of options that required 2 extra steps to reach)
  • Add a way to reset the Screen Time passcode if it was forgotten without having to restore the phone to factory settings and set it up as New (there was a way to do it with earlier versions by hacking into an iTunes backup; Apple blocked that “back door" with iOS 13).

Yes, you can, if you have a Mac. You can always restore a Time Machine backup of the iPhone backup (since you mentioned it), and you can archive iPhone backups on your Mac, which creates a new one the next time you back up. And iCloud backups save the 2 most recent backups.
