Storage on iMovie

I am trying to import a movie into iMovie with ample amount of disk space remaining on my hard drive, but continue to receive this message: "There is not enough disk space available at the selected destination. Please choose another one or clear some space."

I've never used iMovie on this computer, so there are no projects or media existing in the library.

A redownload of iMovie will fix the not enough disk space issue.

To do that, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. Then sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see

your purchases displayed, including iMovie. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash and return it to the Applications folder.

Hi Rich, I've seen this is the widespread solution for this issue but in my case unfourtunately it didn't work.

I redownloaded the app as suggested, also erased all the previous media from the iMovie Library and freed up the space in my iMac (I now have 80GB of free disk space), but nothing seems to work.

I would like to point out that I am trying to upload a 30GB video (precisely because I want to save it in a lower resolution), in case this might be the issue.

I include below the data from my iMac in case it will help:

macOS Catalina

iMac (Retina 4K, 2017)

Processor 3Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

Graphics Radeon Pro 555 2 GB

Thank you for your help in advance!
