IMovie disk space

I have a vast video I am trying to export from iMovie, it says I have no disk space even though all I have on my computer are the files for the video. every solution says to delete the movie library to free up space but I need my library to export the video. so what should I do to export my video if I cant clear up more space?

Export your movie to an external drive that has sufficient free space to store the movie. If you don’t have sufficient free space on your internal drive for iMovie to operate (application space) then you can free up some space by moving your iMovie library to the external drive as well. To store an iMovie library on an external drive the drive must be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS. If you need to reformat be aware that reformatting erases all dara on the drive, so first back up elsewhere any data that you want to keep.
