restore

I have an old ipad and I have forgotten the passcode.

I have followed all the steps to restore but I'm not getting the restore screen after holding down the home button and top button. I get the white screen with apple logo but then it switches off.

What else can I do.

If your iPad is disabled because you have forgotten the device passcode, you’ll need to follow this procedure:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204306

If you iPad is prompting you to restore via iTunes, you’ll need to follow this process:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203122

If your iPad will not boot, is frozen, or not responding, do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.

Hopefully, one or more of the above procedures will be helpful in getting you up-and-running - and lead to successful resolution of the problem.
