Notes text is white on my Mac but black (on black in dark mode on iphone XR)

On my MacBook Pro w/in Apple Notes the text color is white. Yet on my iPhone in Dark mode the text is black and barely readable.

Yet I can turn off dark mode and the text remains black (on a white background).

If the text is white on my MacBook why is it black in dark mode? Why when I turn off/on dark mode the text adjust accordingly?

What am I missing?

Thanks

iPhone XR, iOS 13

Hi sclark5150,

It sounds like you're having trouble with Dark Mode on your iPhone and I want to help.

Let's try forcing Notes to close on your iPhone, then restarting:

How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Next, open Notes and create a new note to see if the behavior continues.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

I'm able to duplicate the issue and it seems to be due to the fact there are two types of "White" within the Colors font section.

I've attached two screen shots from my MacBook notes reflecting what I'm talking about.

In the attachment "Test - top line" - the line (This is another test on Thursday) seems to have more of a grayish color white and on my iPhone this color shows up whether I have Dark or Light mode. No issues with this font.

In the attachment "Test - bottom line" - the line (Now I've changed the white color so let's see what happens) is definitely a white color based on the font. THIS is the color that shows up in black and is very hard to read.
