'Directory Utility' doesn’t open when try to enable ROOT user in Catalina

Mac OSX Catalina 10.15.4 (19E266)


Need to enable ROOT user.

Do all as described by link:

  1. Choose Apple menu () > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups (or Accounts).
  2. Click , then enter an administrator name and password.
  3. Click Login Options.
  4. Click Join (or Edit).

But click on 'Directory Utility' does not react.

Tried to reboot Mac. Mac OSX reinstalled yesterday.


Anybody met the same or know what to do?


Help me, please.

Just open Directory Utility directly. You don’t need to I’ve got ice through Users & Groups.

Open Spotlight and start typing “Directory Utility”. When it finds the app, hit return.


For what purpose do you think you need to enable the root user? There is no reason I can fathom.
