Length of time before an unboxed iPad must be charged

How long can You store a new iPad mini 5 before taking it out of the box without damage to the battery? I just bought my niece one, but her parents say they won’t give to her until her birthday in 3 months. Also, the same problem for the first generation pencil I bought with it.

All apple devices come with some level of charge out of the box normally between 50 to 80%. The iPad should have no issue waiting 3 months too be opened and connected to charge, the pencil, however, is another matter alltogether.

Apple Pencils have very small batteries, and if left uncharged for very long can cause damage to the battery so it may never charge again.

You may want to open the pencil and charge it maybe once a week for 30 or 45 minutes if not being used to keep it charged.
