I just purchased my son a new iPhone mini from a authorized att store. The phone was straight from the box with no charge when I opened it to turn it on.
This is the first Apple product I have purchased out the box that didn’t have somewhat of a charge for setup .
My question is if anyone else has had this happen?
It makes me worried that they sold me used or refurbished phone and sealed it back up.
You bought the iPhone 12 Mini from the AT&T store. They are authorized retailers of Apple Products. It is perfectly normal to get an iPhone with no charge out of the box. Shipping regulations for items with rechargeable batteries have also changed in the past few years whereby shipments of these devices must not contain any charge. Shipping regulations are also different for items shipped by Air vs items shipped by truck. The other thing is that your iPhone 12 Mini may have been in storage long enough for the residual battery charge to dissipate.
In short, your iPhone 12 Mini is fine. Nothing to worry about especially since you have bought it from a reputable retailer.
