Update Mac OS X 10.7.5

How do I go about updating my current operating system on a 2011 macbook pro? Currently I have Mac OS X 10.7.5

When searching for latest updates my computer would not allow the latest upgrade to download as Im assuming it was to outdated. I have backed up my computer already and am hoping to find a free upgrade to a more current operating system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Per my http://www.macmaps.com/docs/DOC-13695/ and:

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-10693

If you want to go to Sierra 10.12, you can use the App Store to do so now. Backup your data before installing.

If you want to go to High Sierra you need to get 10.8 or later on first before you go to High Sierra.

Your Mac can't upgrade beyond 10.13.6.
