If I were to trade in this iPhone would my loan for AT&T go away?

I have an iPhone 8 Plus with AT&T. If I were to trade in this iPhone, which isn’t paid off, for a new iPhone with Apple, would my loan for AT&T go away? Or would I still have to pay the iPhone 8 Plus off?
