i recently discovered that my wireless apple keyboard no longer works within the youtube app. ive tried resarting and reseting the apple tv, reinstalling the youtube app but no change. added new batteries. no change. it works in other apps. Seems to be a problem within YouTube.

I’ve recently identified additional glitches with Bluetooth keyboards in YouTube, Netflix and Tubi. This occurs with multiple keyboard types and is not a specific keyboard issue. In Tubi, and Netflix the arrow keys occasionally glitch causing a runaway scrolling. These problems are with Apple and non Apple keyboard rendering them useless in these apps.
This is a user forum only. No one here works for Apple nor has any influence with them, and Apple does not read these discussions. The purpose of this forum is for users to help other users with troubleshooting issues.
It is not Apple's responsibility to fix any issues with 3rd party apps, just as it would not be to fix an issue with a 3rd party app on Mac OS or IOS. If they decide to work with a particular developer then that would be on a case by case basis, but is not a normal outcome. You are assuming an intentional harm by them, but it has more to do with not properly developing their app for these TV based platforms.
Understand your comment about this forum. Just discussing. I have written You Tube/Google and gotten ZERO response. Not whaat I expect from Google, but so it goes. I will cease and desist this matter on this forum. Once again, thanks to all that responded (and confirmed it’s not Apple causing the issue).

That response was not directed at you, it was to the other poster. Not surprised at the lack of response, it seems they don’t care as their TV apps have been notorious for having various issues over the years. Have a good day.
I was not expecting this kind of reaction nor can i tell which users have any influence with Apple. My only point is that Apple is also being harmed here because people who buy Apple TVs expect an Apple experience. I presume Apple pays attention to these discussions and my point is that Youtube in particular may be detuning their apps intentionally to harm Apple's usability and user friendliness. Youtube is a giant Google monopoly with minimal interest in Apple users like myself (in my opinion). My hope is that higher Apple engineers will take notice of these issues and work with Youtube to bring the necessary pressure to fix it. One can only hope! Thank you to all the commenters for your input.
Are others experiencing the same problem? YouTube is uninterested in fixing the problem.

I submitted a full report to their help forum with no response.
It will be up to those developers to fix issues occurring within their apps. You can obviously wait for others to say they are also experiencing said issue, but no one here can do anything to fix it.

I understand that Apple’s immediate defense would be to contact the offending apps however, they are unresponsive despite large numbers reporting the problems. At the end of the day it is affecting the functionality of an Apple product making it less useful. YouTube and Netflix are major apps that seriously degrade the advantages of the Apple TV. The lack of response from YouTube especially makes me wonder if the loss of capabilities is an intentional slam on Apple for skimming fees charged to YouTube.
Tanks for the info. I agree very much. But, it’s not just Apple products. If I use You Tube through my huge OLED TV and that keyboard - nothing works there either. And to add insult to injury, or something like that, the keyboard works fine with You Tube on every other device - just not with a device playing back through the TV (unless it’s during ‘screen mirroring’). If there was something bedside You Tube that provided the same stuff You Tube provides, I would discard You Tube - rather quickly. And I do believe charging me $15.99 monthly for Premium You Tube and not allowing me to use my equipment is a very bad way to do business. But I have so much invested in You Tube I am almost forced to continue. Perhaps I’ll get a discount since the product being provided is inferior and not that which I signed up for at the time I did. When I signed up for Premium everything worked fine, keyboards and all.
This is a user forum, you are not addressing Apple here. You may think that the device is now less functional, however that doesn’t change the fact that it is still the developers responsibility to fix the issue with their app(s) and not something Apple can fix. It would be no different than if an app were having issues on any other platform.
