sidecar- unable to pair ipad

I have gone through many trouble shooting options, but I am still not able to connect my ipad and computer through sidecar or AirPlay. I have an iPad pro 12.9" 3rd generation running on 13.4, and a macbook pro (2019) running on OS Catalina 10.15.4. I can see the option to pair my iPad when I am trying to connect it on my mac, but when I select it, nothing happens. I have already done every troubleshooting option on this site and others, but nothing seems to help.
