Security Update 2020-002

Ever since I updated, my laptop keeps crashing every half hour or so. I cannot seem to do anything. If I am watching Netflix, it will stagger, freeze and than crash. It goes into sleep mode and than I have to restart it. I don't understand why this has been happening for the past two days (only after I updated my Mac).

It is getting very frustrating and I can't understand why it is happening.

Roger,

Small world sometime!

Thanks for the information on this and hope we get a resolution very soon!

Tschüß,

Steve

Hi Simon,

I just discover today that there's an update fo Mojave:

Security update 2020-003 10.14.6

Is somebody already installed it and checked it?

As far as know, here and in other forums, the beta version doesn't solve the problem (at least for Mojave)...but this is an official update..

It comes with the Safari's update...I really hope that it is not a coincidence!!!

I'll wait for some answers before update...

Cheers,

L

Luca,

Thanks so much for posting!!! I too now see that Security UpDate 2020-003 for 10.14.6 is now available. Like you, I really don't want to be the first person installing this!! Will it truly address the kernel panic issue??? It better!

If anyone has installed this update already (some may have automatically install updates as their preference) -- please let us know here.

One note: Yesterday I did a restart but did not get the kernel panic "your computer restarted" message… I may try putting my Mac Mini to sleep and restarting (with and without using Safari) PRIOR to installing the new update just to have a documented "before and after" set of data.

Thanks again and hoping to hear more on this post soon!

Best regards,

Steve Schulte

Hello again luca976, Steven and all others…

thanks for posting this!

Had read about the release of these new updates earlier this morning, but they weren’t available to me just until a few minutes ago.

After what I had read about the beta versions, my expectations were already lowered, with just a bit of hope for the final builds.

(But it was already clear that I will not run the updates until I have fetched some more informations).

Apple’s „About…“ page to the Security Update 2020-003:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211170

(did not find anything about Safari 13.1.1 so far)

cheers,

Roger

I did not install security update 2020-003… I will wait to hear from you concerning 2020-004 and then possibly install it.

Thank you very much, R. Simon, for keeping this important post active. If nothing working by the end of this week then next week I will telephone Apple. Let's see and again, eagerly awaiting your test results!!

Best regards,

Thank you Steve Schulte,

…well, what can I say?

"Same ol', same ol' "… SecUdp 2020-004 Mojave did not change anything (for me).

Still BridgeOS crashes with sleep (plus system restart) and shut down in case Safari was at least launched once before.

Still immediate macOS crash when disconnecting the TB-3 eGPU by top bar menu command.

Disappointing.

At least some security improvements: About the security content of macOS Catalina 10.15.6, Security Update 2020-004 Mojave, Security Update 2020-004 High Sierra - Apple Support

and (less useful for me) Safari: About the security content of Safari 13.1.1 - Apple Support

Thanks praetokronos,

that's really interesting..considering also that was kind of strange that if we are having these problems..I guess some developer inside Apple might have same problems too. does not look well for the ones, like me and for working reasons, who are still obliged to stick with Mojave. Hope that big Sur will manage to fix this Odyssey..

Cheers,

L
