Mid 2011 iMac 21.5. Console Log is a Nutter.

Bought mac from ebay.

Loads of <security> issues in Console.

Found it had no serial number on the logic board from previous Applecare Logic Board replacement in 2013. So, i paid Apple the £190 for that and the messages stopped and it seemed fine.

Only joking. A generous man gave me the program and 5 minutes later, Serial Number in.

Replaced original 500GB HDD to a 2TB and added 16GB RAM seeing as it semed good.

I've been told repeatedly to stay out of Console but it's going mental. I got 24,000 in 20 minutes.

I'm importing photos right now so I'm getting messages for that but the <security> and 'Unable to confirm User' messages. I don't understand why. I've just turned it on and it has 3,122 messages.

I'm seriously getting p***** right off with it.

Cheers and sorry for the screenshots. ctrl + mouse slider/wheel.

J.

Tried to copy the processes but i can't so random screenshots?

I'm guessing but I think you got a motherboard replaced which is why there is no serial number. I would call Apple Support to find out what the correct solution is since the repair store is not yet re-opened.

Thank you, but you shouldn't post all those images. Can't read them, don't tell us much. What version of macOS is installed? How was it installed? Are all available security updates installed? Was the firmware updated: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011)iMac12,1IM121.0047.B21 (2015-001)? Here are the basic OS versions:

Original OS Mac OS X 10.6.6 (10J4026)

Later OS Mac OS X 10.6.7 (10J4139)

Maximum OS macOS 10.13.6 (17G65)

I do not have the list of security updates for all OS versions. As I recall there were three such updates for 10.13.6 High Sierra. No additional security updates will be released for High Sierra after Nov. 2020.

You can actually copy the text in Console by highlighting the top line you want then holding Shift key & clicking on the bottom key you want, then CMD+c to copy... but the Console has been made just about useless by Apple.

For Error 67050 try this...

Go on the Apple certificate page:

https://www.apple.com/certificateauthority/

Download the Apple Intermediate Certificates

Apple IST CA 2 - G1 Certificate (direct download)

Double click the downloaded certificate to install it in Keychain Access.

You should see it now, in login certificates.

Try this browser...

What is Mac OS error 67050?

Mac OS error 67050 is an error that usually occurs when the signing certificate expires and Apple changes the complete signature string to a new format after it is renewed. The new signature fails the code signature verification check and the Updater refuses to update the application.

Hi,

After I post them I went back to see if they would be full screen but they’re not so I included the zoom function.

I got it with High Sierra but It’s now Sierra. Updated from iTunes.

Im pretty sure it checked the firmware because I don’t really know what it is, so I remember checking it.

Its running AHT just now because it’s slow as **** and very hot on the back. I changed HDD and bought OWC’s cable for fan control but now it’s very, very hot.

Ive run this test before on this machine with the original 500GB and then again with this new one. Both times I got an error.

Try and find that just now.

Hi,

So AHT came back with nothing found. It took forever to just probe the computer.

Fireware and security updates are all up to date.

I think the fact that after being repaired by Apple the serial number was missing plays a big part. Yes, I put the number back in but maybe incorrectly. Not in the sense that the number is wrong but maybe I’ve missed something given the fact that the errors stopped only to return later.

I’m gonna just erase the drive and install Lion and see what it’s like. My guess is it’s going to be the same.

I’ll post when that’s done but I’m not hopeful.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Did that. No dice.

Apple were less than useless.

Wouldn’t give me any details about it’s history. I called reseller as per advice from Apple.

They did some digging and said yes replaced logic board, 2013.

So called Apple, told them that they replaced but did not flash (their words) the number.

Too late. No warranty for part now. But it’s your fault I tell them. “Bring it in but could cost around £190. Oh wait it’s over 7 years old. We don’t deal with them”

But-you-never-fixed-it-correctly!!!

Reseller, “nope too old”.

Computer Division in Stirling:

yeh £90! Then call next day okay it’ll be £290 with HDD!

Just the number!! No £150 labor charge.

Next day, “we can’t fix it”.

£50 on petrol so these idiots can talk mince and do nothing.

Like I say. Friendly gent pointed me to .dmg which was the Apple software to ‘flash’ number. For free, not 190 or 90. For not a penny.

Thought that was that but na.

Will format to Snow Leopard today hopefully. Erase the drive.
