It seems like no keyboard cover fits my keyboard, there are a few differences in the shapes and sizes of some buttons like the return button and the shift button. And all the keyboards I searched online have the same shape of the covers. So is it an issue with my macbook?

There are three different keyboard shapes which MacBooks can have: ISO (European), ANSI (US) and JIS (Japanese). You need to look for a cover which matches your type, if anyone makes them. To see what different language keyboards look like, just go to

For one thing, Macbook Airs are so thin and therefore the screen sits really tight, so it is not recommended to use a keyboard cover. And, without knowing exactly which model/version/year you have, we can't answer your question. They may have changed the layout since you bought yours - that does not make it an "issue".
Do not use keyboard covers or "skins".
Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures states:
