Not enough disk space for iMovie?

I have been trying to import video files into iMovie but I keep getting the "There is not enough disk space" message and it won't allow me to import files. However, I still have over 60GB of available storage (see pic) so I'm a little confused why this is happening. Has anyone else experienced this that might have any advice? (Also, I bought a 500GB external hard drive thinking this might help my issue, but it's not looking like it has so far).

The "not enough disk space" issue can be cured by redownloading iMovie 10. To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your

iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see

your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash and return it to the Applications folder.
