MacBook Pro dead. Only ESC button showing

I have no idea what to do. This happened months ago. However, there are valuable documents, etc. on my dead MacBook. It seems it’s a problem with the lighting on the screen. Like the display is dead.

I was wondering if I plugged it in to my tv to mirror screen, would I be able to see the desktop?

I am hoping to get the information off the hard drive. But right now, I cannot even navigate or login into the computer because the screen is dead.

Like I said, the only button being displayed is the ESC button in the top left of the Touch Bar.

Thanks!

It won't appear on my touch bar. I don't have any idea what happened. I don't know if my display is dead, I guess my macbook is just on sleep mode but I tried to do Option+Command+P+R but nothings happened.

If you suspect your display is dead, wait till you see this on your touchbar:

and then if you only have one user you can like “blindly” type the password and press enter. Correct password means the icons on the Touch Bar will disappear and it will become this:

you can then plug a cable to your TV and mirror the screen.
