delete a tapback from history

I deleted a message the included a tapback, however, it still appears on my history screen. When I open the contact, the message does not appear, but it shows up on the list. I've synced to my iTunes, but it's still there. How can I permanently delete this message/tapback?

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

Hello, deedeetee1699.

I understand that you have a remnant of a message living in the history of the Messages app. I’m glad to have a chance to look at this with you. There are a couple of different ways to delete messages. From the screen you are on, you should be able to swipe left and then tap, "Delete." This will delete the entire thread.

You also have the option of opening the thread and deleting this message individually. Delete messages on iPhone

Delete a message

1. Touch and hold a message bubble, then tap More.
2. Select the message bubbles you want to delete, then tap .

I hope this helps!

Be well.

deedeetee1699,

Have you had a chance to restart your iPhone since deleting the message? Restart your iPhone. This straightforward troubleshooting step is quick and often resolves any number of issues.

I would also make sure that the device is backed up and up-to-date.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Has the message recipient sent you any subsequent messages? Have you sent them any? Doing so might "bump" the errant message out of its top spot.

Best Regards.
