Unapproved minor purchases

My 8-yr old racked up $850 in unapproved charges using my iPad on the game Roblox at one sitting. I refuted it with apple using their standard process and it was denied. (My history went from $0 purchases ever for games to $850 within a few hours). They said there is no recourse. A cs person i talked to said apple has strengthened their policies during covid not to issue refunds for unapproved minor purchases and that they know kids are home bored. It seems apple should be helping parents right now and they are benefiting with this type of policy. The other recourse i have is to work w my bank to dispute the charges but apple strongly discourages that of course. Does anyone have ideas here?

Oh I’ve called Apple multiple times / their response is there is no recourse and i owe them $850 it’s already charged to my cc and they won’t reverse it. I’ve done everything within their policy to refute and their answer is no. They said i could call my bank to refute the charge and if i do that they would consider it fraud, I’d lose my account and could never use my cc with them again. This is from a supervisor after i escalated the call. What other advice do you have? If you ask me this is a poor customer service option for a first time offender.
