Odd Server Connection Problem

I use a MacBook Pro for a nonprofit food bank.

Will not connect to server for either Safari or MacMail now.

However I can connect to the internet using Firefox.

Could really use input to correct this. I need this laptop up and fully functional.

Any thoughts on why I can connect online one way and not the other?

< Proxies - Network proxies detected>

Disable proxies and test.

ref: > system preferences> Network> Advanced settings>Proxies uncheck SOCKS Proxy.

I suspect you have installed adware/malware. Try running this trusted utility https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/

adware/malware launch daemons can set SOCKS proxies without user participation.

(SOCKS is an Internet protocol that exchanges network packets between a client and server through a proxy server.)

You’ve a network proxy configured, which is usually trouble.

Remove the network proxy setting. That’s in the Network Preferences.

Remove both the MalwareBytes app and that Antivirus One.app anti-virus app.

Flux has reportedly caused some issues for folks. I don’t know of those have been addressed.

You’re out of physical memory, and the hard disk is going to be glacially slow.

Memory and storage can both be upgraded on that MacBook Pro, if you plan to try to get a few more years out of it.
