what do i do if macOS Utilities window doesnt appear and i get -2102F in its place

What do i do if macOS Utilities window doesn’t appear and I get error -2102F in its place. What gives? I’ve tried and tried without success to get to the Utilities folder. I have a Time Machine backup but it’s not useable unless I can get to that Utilities window since the current installed SSD is new. I also have an external with Protogo but that too won’t let me use the Time Machine backup to restore the new SSD with the old contents from the Time Machine backup. Any ideas?

Are you using Cmd-R or Cmd-Opt-R? If the latter, then try Cmd-R.

If you are trying cmd-R and it is going to Internet Recovery, then your drive is in bad shape.

You can try restarting your Modem and Router to get it to connect. You could also try taking it to somewhere with a different network.

What are you trying to do? Are you attempting to do an Internet Recovery?

As for accessing the Time Machine backup on the external drive, click on the Time Machine icon in the menubar and hold down the Option key. You should now see Browse Other Backup Disks. Select the option to access Time Machine backup disks other than the default.
